Job Location:          Au Sable Forks, Clifton Park, Liverpool, Yorktown Heights, NY

Job Type:                 Full-Time, not contract

Travel:                       Local and Regional Travel, 75 – 85% of the time

Position Overview:

The On-Site Safety Specialist for Northline Utilities has the responsibility to implement Northline Utilities’ safety management system to maintain regulatory compliance and continually reduce the risk of incidents, by assisting the Project Management and Construction Management functions in the identification, assessment, and control of hazards.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions, equipment, and systems of work for self and all employees, and to participate in training as needed for this purpose.

Prepare Environmental Health and Safety Plans (EHASPs) for construction projects.

Evaluate the implementation of the EHASPs through job site assessments (JSAs).

Assist the job site workers and management in identifying risks and identifying mitigation processes.

Conduct worker safety orientations and Required Best Practice (RBP) training.

Assist management in conducting incident assessments (investigations) to identify safety management system failures, contributing and root causes, and action items to improve the system.

Draft/review RBPs and Safety Programs.

Evaluate compliance with the safety management system through compliance audits and management system assessments.

Occasional storm response required (could be multiple days at distant locations).

Develop a strong working relationship with the General Foreman and other key stakeholders assigned to their projects which promotes mutual support and interaction.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in related safety field with 2-3 years’ experience is preferred.  Certified Utility Safety Professional Certification (CUSP) a plus.
