Presenter:

Mrs. CharlieAnne Huffam is a CIH, CSP and CHMM. She has over 20 years’ experience in the EHS industry. Currently she is the EHS Manager at the GE HealthCare digital x-ray detector manufacturing facility in North Greenbush, NY. She has a M.S. in Organizational Management from The Sage Colleges and a B.S. in Marine Safety and Environmental Protection from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Prior experiences include managing the EHS and training programs for the Decontamination & Demolition contractor at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, and working in the Emergency Response Branch at the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. Throughout her career, she has worked with construction, demolition, remediation, and manufacturing crews in a variety of settings with a wide range of PPE ensembles in hot environments where real-time heat stress monitoring was warranted. CharlieAnne is a Board Member of the AIHA Eastern Upstate NY Local Section and a member of the ASSP Eastern NY Chapter.

Session Description:

The increased focus on heat stress prevention by OSHA has several organizations looking for ways to balance production with safety.  This session will review current changes in heat stress standards, practical ways to measure and monitor for heat stress conditions, the impact different PPE ensembles have on workers’ heat load, and how to help organizations make decisions to enhance worker protection.  Monitoring equipment will be available for hands-on demonstration, and new technologies will be explored.
